Apparently a 22-year-old man committed suicide after reading Richard Dawkins’ book The God Delusion according to his dad. We discuss if it is possible that the young man’s sudden lack of religion in the face of his father’s strong faith could have been the reason for this tragedy, or the lack of social support, or even some other reason.
Is it dangerous to become an atheist? Is life worth living without a belief in God? And is Dawkins the best first introduction to atheism to young vulnerable people of faith (We don’t know as we haven’t read The God Delusion yet.)?
Pardon the sound. I don’t know what is going on–I think my settings are all messed up and was running out of time trying to fix them. Maybe it’s Satan. I just went back into Garageband, reworked all the sound settings, re-rendered it, and re-sent it back to the server, and it still sounds like caca. I give up (though it’s a little better than it was!).
Bonus on blogsite only! Here is the YouTube video I mentioned in the podcast where the mother is going batshit insane because her teenaged son expressed his atheism.
