I am still having problems with my mixer. I replaced the USB audio interface, but the mixer is still cutting in and out and I’m getting bizarre effects at times. I also am still hearing radio interference when the mixer is on. I am not a happy camper. Obviously something is loose.
I talk about how we may not be able to do Christmas this year as we are really tight on money (Off topic, and not in the podcast, I’m not really that much into the holiday anyway and it isn’t any skin off my teeth if the whole thing would just go . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Red Friday
Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans listening to this, as well as those who are not Americans, because we all have something to be thankful for, I hope!
On November 4 I was interviewed by Jennifer Navarrete of Morning BrewCast and Tech in Twenty. She was the one who came up with and . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Happy Tofurky Day!
On Tuesday night, I finally got a chance to see “The Room” in a theater, not the way it was meant to be seen, but the way it should be seen, a la Rocky Horror-style audience participation. Thank you to Samantha and Veronica for going with me. Thanks to Samantha, Veronica, and . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Finally, a review of “The Room!”
Yesterday, I brought up the heartwarming (or heart wrenching) story of the man who was in a coma for 23 years, but a PET scan revealed that he had normal brain function and is now able to communicate with a special keyboard. It made me think of The British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawkings, . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Meat puppet?
Today I took Dwight’s Uncle Clifford to the doctor for a complete physical. For a man his age with his poor cognitive abilities, he is doing pretty well. He had an EKG and a chest xray, as well as a prostate exam, which he absolutely didn’t want but the doctor insisted he . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Veggie tale of horror!
Not a lot to talk about today–I couldn’t find any topics on the internet even, and the dog has been acting up because he is avoiding going out to play in the rain so I’ll keep it short.
Today on Reddit, a person named ldsgems pointed out that two years after his untimely death in 1998, The Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) did baptism by proxy of the famous astronomer Carl Sagan.
Kind of a rambling show today. Took Copernicus to the dog park. They are making it hard for dog people there. Does DeKalb County want to sell the park to developers or something? We live on the wrong side of the tracks from Brookhaven, which is a really nice area “inside the . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Inside the Perimeter
I try very hard to be open-minded and enjoy knowing people with different opinions of politics, religion, and even try to get along with–gasp!–meat-eaters! Sometimes though I do get into arguments, but I really do try to be polite and listen.
I’m using my Zoom H2 as a microphone, recording directly into the computer while I am waiting for my replacement USB audio interface device to come in. Let me know what you think the sound is like. I’m finding it a little cold-sounding, but it might be fine.
I think I’ve finally discovered the supposed problem with my mixer–I believe the USB audio interface has died. It started allowing radio transmission bleed-through and then completely stopped working. I also discovered that the same model is no longer available, alas. This one lasted four years, but as I recall it . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Is it the USB interface?
I am not a self-promoter. None of my podcasts have ever had that many listeners, except maybe Rocky Horror Pod Show, and then not even. One time, Coffee and Tea Show had a bump of ratings on Podcast Alley though.
Today sucked for podcasting. I recorded a show at a flooring place with Dwight and Halley and the sound quality was horrible. I tried to save it and finally chucked it.
This is a second take on this show as the first was too controversial with my family. And I had to go behind a restaurant to record this because I couldn’t use my computer because Halley was using it, and Dwight was also hammering something, so excuse the traffic sounds, except for on . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Asbestos and the job market
Last night, Dwight and I got the chance to see HBO’s 2009 movie Grey Gardens, based on the 1975 Maylses brothers’ documentary of the same name. It starred Jessica Lange as Edith Bouvier Beale, or Big Edie and Drew Barrymore as her daughter Little Edie, impoverished and reclusive aunt and cousin respectively . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: On Grey Gardens
Today I review the 1985 documentary Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate. While it came out in 1985, it was filmed in ’82. It tells the story about one of the industry’s better known surrogates, Maureen Sullivan and was directed by This Film is not Yet Rated . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Review of Private Practices, the story of a sex surrogate
My husband Dwight is on the show with me today. Tropical Storm Ida is pounding our house as we are recording, so we talk about what we like to do when it rains.

Today, I am trying to record while my dog Copernicus is attempting to have me play tug with him, using a rubber mallard duck. He accidentally bites me several times.
On today’s show I interview my daughters Halley and Maia, who have been playing this text-based online game called Faery Tale Online. It’s very fun, but there is a waiting list to get on, as you have to be born to other players. In the game . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Faery Tale Online!

If you caught yesterday’s show, you heard me whine about how my mixer was dead, blah blah blah. My husband unhooked all the wires and shook it and that seemed to bring it back to life. So all is well, I hope!
Please excuse the sound quality of today’s show. I had already recorded a show for today and when I played it back, it sounded like poo, very static-y and echo-y (a sound sample can be found here if you are interested!). So I had to go searching around until I found my Zoom H2, . . . → Read More: Flyswatter Show: Rest In Peace, Mixer Board
