I have a window of opportunity to record the show, now that my neighbors stopped with using leaf blowers right outside.

There may not be a show done tomorrow–I am having my routine colonoscopy and after the procedure, I may not feel up to doing it. I’ll try very hard though–it will be the first time in four years that I missed doing a NaPodPoMo show!

My husband, daughter and I went to the Atlanta Science Tavern lecture on birds, a Meetup lecture by Atlanta Audubon Society board member Dave Butler last night. It was great, thought they played music that made me feel sleepy. I am worried about the bird population due to pollution and pesticides. We also keep our cats indoors–cats are a tremendous killer of birds and other wildlife.

I am on a liquid diet today for my operation and feel very hungry, which is why I am playing a beautiful song called “Hungry” by the UK folk artist Lizzie Nunnery, from her 2008 EP Hungry. Lizzie Nunnery has just come out with a new album called Company of Ghosts, which you can find at Amazon and other places–see her website for more information. I found her music on Music Alley from Mevio.

We are coming up on the end of National Podcast Post Month and it’s making me a little sad. I am putting out a heads up that I may or may not have a show up on Monday, as I am supposed to get a (routine) colonoscopy that day.

Today I am drinking water. Drinking water, then peeing, then drinking water, then peeing. Tomorrow I start the prep. I am supposed to only have clear liquids tomorrow starting at midnight, then at 5:30 I drink this laxative stuff called MoviPrep over the course of an hour and stay near the toilet, then early in the morning I again take the MoviPrep. And then my procedure is to be done at 10:30 a.m.

So I’m not looking forward to it.

Tonight, three of us are going to an Atlanta Science Tavern meetup. The subject is “State of the Birds: Silent Spring Revisited.” We’ve been going to a lot of Science Tavern meetups as well as those for Atlanta Skeptics in the Pub, and have found them entertaining and a worthwhile way to spend an evening with a group of like-minded people in a pub. They are also podcasts, which you can subscribe to on iTunes here: Atlanta Science Tavern and Atlanta Skeptics in the Pub.

The music I am playing today is from a New Mexico band called The Scrams. The song is “Space Jeeps”. I got them from Music Alley from Mevio, but you can purchase their music from their website as well.

It’s the last NaPodPoMo for 2008, and I’m pretty pumped about that. Now I can get into making longer, more elaborate shows, and not having to rush around getting a show recorded and on the feed right away in order to hit the deadline.

Sadly, I’ve gained about six pounds from just messing around and not being careful, and am now going to use the Mary McDougall mini-diet to eradicate some of the baggage and get back on track. Being a no-added-fat vegan is not so easy, especially when you can’t expect people to accommodate your eating plan (It would be nice if they did, but I don’t expect it.).

Once again, if you know of any musicians who would like me to play some of their pieces or if you have some expertise in the areas of liberal politics, atheism, skepticism, freethought, veganism, or anything else along those lines, I would like to have you on the show.
