I rant about runoffs and politicians because Saxby Chambliss beat Jim Martin in the runoffs for the U.S. Senate for Georgia. Politicians are schmucks.

I play my friend Graham Holland’s amazing song “Never Trust A Panda” from his album It’s a Frog’s Life. Graham has a Very Important music podcast also called It’s A Frog’s Life in which he plays acoustic music from Liverpool and the rest of the UK–I strongly order you to check it out. Graham has been pressuring me all along to re-start podcasting after my long hiatus and really, he is one of the main reasons I started up again.

I also found a band on Podsafe Music Network that I kind of liked. They are called Brendon Boogie Band and the song is “Monica Monica” from their album Disposable Pop. I believe they are on iTunes and they also have a podcast called Boogiecast.

Last week, Halley came into town and Dwight, Halley, and I all went down to Decatur to do the early vote the night before we went to my sister-in-law’s for Thanksgiving. The lines were long–it was a 45-minute wait from start to finish–and largely African-American, which gave me a little hope that Jim Martin would get more votes. However, this is the state of Georgia, and it is very difficult for the metro-Atlanta area to override the rest of this blood-red Republicania.

Ah well, Saxby Chambliss won, and it was no real surprise.

I hate these drawn out election cycles–I say get the body in the ground and quickly, because the corpse is starting to stink.

This reminds me of when my father died at home with all his children present at his request last August on a Friday right on Labor Day weekend. It was Sunday before my mother had the funeral because my father had wanted a BIG funeral with his entire rather-large church there and it took a long time to get that organized. After that service, there was a huge receiving line, (which wore poor old Clifford out as he had only met my dad once and he’s normally confused all the time anyway). Then after the receiving line, my dad wanted a potluck supper, so that took a long time. Then they waited until Tuesday to have the graveside service (because the cemetery workers had that Monday off). Then they had a dedication ceremony at a park a week later. For all I know they are still having ceremonies, not to belittle the wishes of my father whom my family of course misses very much, but come on!

Today Dwight and I went down to the Georgia State Capital Building to protest California’s Prop 8, which was the ruling that gays and lesbians are no longer able to get married. Previously of course, gay marriage was legal in the state of California.

This protest was an event that was taking place all over the country, and while information was slow in getting out, there was a crowd of nearly 1000 people there.

I interviewed several people while Dwight climbed around taking pictures. It’s long, the sound quality isn’t that good because of all the people, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
